Tree Falls on Hillcrest House After Lightning Strike in Auckland

A large tree fell on a house in Hillcrest, Auckland’s North Shore, after being struck by lightning during a sudden storm. Fire and Emergency NZ responded to the incident around 5:12 PM. The occupants are evacuating the property, which now has a significant hole in its roof. A neighbor described hearing an incredibly loud bang at the time of the strike, despite wearing headphones.
