UNICEF has warned of an “unprecedented level” of child malnutrition in North Darfur, where children fleeing fighting in el-Fasher are among those affected. The agency found that 53% of 500 children screened in Um Baru were acutely malnourished, with one in six suffering from severe acute malnutrition. UNICEF called for immediate access to provide crucial assistance to these vulnerable children, emphasizing the urgent need for intervention to prevent further suffering and deaths. The conflict in Sudan, which has killed thousands and displaced millions, continues to escalate, worsening the humanitarian crisis in the region.
