Whitecaps Settle Lawsuit Over 2024 Messi No-Show
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

A proposed settlement for a class-action lawsuit against the Vancouver Whitecaps will not compensate ticket buyers who missed seeing soccer stars Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets, and Luis Suarez in May 2024. Instead, the Whitecaps will pay $475,000 to be divided among three charities, with legal fees potentially taking a third of that amount. The lawsuit, alleging a “bait-and-switch,” was brought by Ho Chun, who paid $404 for tickets based on advertised player participation. A court hearing for settlement approval is set for February 27, 2026.
