Russian Group Plans DIY DDR5 Memory During Global Shortage
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Amid a global shortage of DDR5 RAM and rising prices, Russian hardware enthusiasts are turning to DIY solutions by sourcing empty PCBs and hand-soldering memory chips. Inspired by YouTuber PRO Hi-Tech and a local expert known as “Vik-on,” they find empty RAM PCBs for as low as $6.40, though sourcing memory chips remains challenging. Building a 16 GB stick could cost around 12,000 Rubles ($152), which matches retail prices, making this endeavor less appealing for now. However, with conditions expected to worsen, this DIY approach may gain traction.
