Rain is expected to impact partygoers and campers heading to holiday and festival spots as New Year approaches. An active low-pressure system will move onto the North Island, bringing heavy rain and strong southeasterly winds, according to MetService. The iconic Rhythm & Vines music festival, starting tomorrow, is set to be affected, with around 15,000-18,000 campers arriving as the rain begins. A heavy rain watch has been issued for the Coromandel Peninsula and Gisborne/Tairāwhiti from tomorrow until Tuesday morning.
