Turkish Defence Minister Yasar Guler and military chief Selcuk Bayraktaroglu attended a ceremony at Murted airbase near Ankara to honor Libyan officials killed in a plane crash. The officials, including military chief Mohammed Ali Ahmed al-Haddad, were in Turkiye for defense talks before the crash. The remains of the officials will be repatriated to Libya for an official funeral. Al-Haddad, a key figure in UN efforts to unify Libya’s armed forces, was mourned by both rival factions, leaving a significant void in the country’s peace efforts.
