Syrian authorities conducted a raid near Damascus, killing Mohammed Shahadeh, an ISIL senior commander in Syria. The operation targeted al-Buweida town and involved specialised units and the General Intelligence Directorate, in coordination with international coalition forces. This comes after the arrest of another ISIL figure, Taha al-Zoubi, in a separate operation in Maadamiya. Despite suffering military defeats, ISIL continues to pose a threat in the region and beyond.
