Ivory Coast began their AFCON title defence with a 1-0 victory over Mozambique, thanks to Amad Diallo’s goal in the 49th minute. Despite creating numerous chances, the Ivorians struggled to convert, with notable misses from Wilfried Zaha and Franck Kessie. Mozambique, still seeking their first win since their tournament debut in 1986, featured 42-year-old Dominguez as the oldest outfield player in tournament history.
