American billionaire prevails in defamation case against Peter Nygard

Billionaire hedge fund manager Louis Bacon has won his defamation lawsuit against former fashion mogul Peter Nygard, who spread false claims about Bacon during a property dispute in the Bahamas. Justice Richard Latin ruled that Nygard admitted to having no evidence for his accusations, which included serious crimes. Nygard’s attorney stated they plan to appeal the decision. Nygard, currently serving an 11-year sentence in Canada for sexual assault, was found guilty in 2023.
