The Libyan army chief, Gen Mohammed Ali Ahmed al-Haddad, was killed in an air crash in Turkey, as confirmed by the Libyan prime minister. The Falcon 50 aircraft, carrying al-Haddad and four others, lost signal shortly after taking off from Ankara at 20:52 local time. The jet, headed for Tripoli, had requested an emergency landing before contact was lost. Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya reported the incident via a post on X.
