The head of the World Health Organization (WHO), Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, emphasized that progress against famine in Gaza is “extremely fragile,” despite no areas currently classified as facing famine according to the IPC report. He highlighted the ongoing struggles with infrastructure damage and limited humanitarian aid, projecting over 100,000 children and 37,000 pregnant women to suffer acute malnutrition. WHO urges urgent approval for essential medical supplies to enhance healthcare access in the region. Additionally, Tedros expressed encouragement over the release of Sudanese health workers, stressing the need for all healthcare providers to be freed amid ongoing crises.
