Caf has raised the prize money for the Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) winners from $7 million to $10 million, as announced by president Patrice Motsepe following an executive committee meeting in Morocco. Despite ongoing scheduling conflicts with European club seasons, Caf remains committed to hosting Afcon biennially. This year’s tournament will take place over Christmas and New Year for the first time, with the final on January 18. Future Afcon editions will transition to a quadrennial schedule to align with the European Championships.
