Claudio Manuel Neves Valente’s actions leading up to the Brown and MIT shootings were meticulously documented by investigators. After arriving in the US on a student visa, he withdrew from Brown University in 2003. In December 2017, he rented a car and was seen near Brown University in the days leading up to the shooting. On the day of the Brown shooting, he was captured on surveillance video in the vicinity of the building, where he later opened fire, killing two students. Valente was spotted fleeing the scene and was eventually identified as the suspect in both shootings.
