The U.S. government admitted liability for its role in the Jan. 29 mid-air crash over the Potomac River, involving a commercial jet and an Army helicopter, in response to a civil suit. The crash resulted in 67 deaths, with no survivors found. The government acknowledged failures by the pilots and air traffic controller but denied specific claims of negligence. The National Transportation Safety Board is expected to release its final report on the crash by Jan. 29, 2026.
