NOAA Introduces AI Weather Models for Faster, More Accurate Forecasts

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has launched new AI-driven weather forecasting models aimed at improving accuracy and reducing computational costs. The Artificial Intelligence Global Forecast System (AIGFS) significantly decreases resource usage while enhancing forecast longevity. In addition, the Artificial Intelligence Global Ensemble Forecast System (AIGEFS) offers multiple forecast possibilities, and a Hybrid-GEFS integrates traditional methods with AI. NOAA acknowledges ongoing improvements are needed for hurricane predictions and outcome diversity.
