Nearly 2,000 civilians were displaced from Heglig in West Kordofan after the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) took control of the city. Governor Qamar El-Din Mohamed reported that 1,850 displaced individuals reached Kosti, where aid organizations have begun providing food, shelter, and medical services. The ongoing conflict between the Sudanese army and RSF, which started in April 2023, has resulted in thousands of deaths and millions displaced across Sudan. The RSF controls most of the Darfur region while the army holds significant areas in the rest of the country.
