Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado sustained a fractured vertebra during a risky journey to Oslo to collect her Nobel Peace Prize, escaping from hiding due to threats from President Maduro. Despite her injury from a choppy boat ride, she failed to reach the ceremony on time, with her daughter accepting the award on her behalf and criticizing Maduro. Machado made her first public appearance in a year in Oslo, where Maduro dismissed her injury, calling her a “demon”.
