The widow of Palestinian surgeon Dr. Adnan al-Bursh, who was killed in Israeli custody on December 8, 2025, is advocating for the return of his body, which has been withheld by Israeli authorities. During a sit-in by families of prisoners at the Red Cross in Gaza, Yasmin Al Bursh criticized the double standards of the occupation, which negotiates for its own dead while denying burial rights to Palestinians. She urged the International Committee of the Red Cross and other organizations to intervene, allowing for a dignified burial in accordance with their faith. Dr. al-Bursh’s remains are currently held in what is referred to as the ‘cemetery of numbers.’
