Parents caring for severely disabled adult children have been recognized as homeworkers entitled to minimum wage following a landmark Supreme Court ruling. This decision impacts many resident family carers funded by Disability Support Services (DSS), now classified as employees of DSS under the Ministry of Social Development. The case was initiated by parents Christine Fleming and Peter Humphreys, who provide round-the-clock care for their children. Fleming expressed her joy at the unanimous decision reached by the five judges.
