Hawaii’s Kilauea volcano recently erupted, resulting in the destruction of a monitoring camera by lava. The eruption, which began on December 6, 2025, featured high lava fountains reaching up to 1,000 feet and lasted over 12 hours. Volcanologists issued warnings about the potential for volcanic gas and tephra falling within a few miles of the vents. A code orange alert remains in effect, indicating that further eruptions are likely within the next few weeks.
