25 Dead in Goa Nightclub Fire; PM Modi Offers Compensation

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed profound sorrow over the tragic fire at the Birch nightclub in Arpora, Goa, which resulted in at least 25 fatalities and around 50 injuries, reportedly due to a cylinder blast. He announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh for the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 for the injured. Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant termed the incident “unfortunate” and confirmed a detailed investigation will be conducted to determine the cause and accountability. Emergency services responded throughout the night, providing assistance to those affected.
