Canada has removed Syria from its list of states supporting terrorism, following the US and Syrian government’s efforts to promote stability. The move comes as Syria marks one year since Bashar al-Assad’s overthrow, with Canada also revoking the terrorist designation for Hayat Tahrir al-Sham. The Syrian transitional government aims to build a secure future, with sanctions lifted on some individuals. The US has also eased sanctions on Syria, as President Ahmed al-Sharaa works towards a more inclusive and tolerant Syria.
