Canadian drug kingpin sentenced to prison in Australia

Tse Chi Lop, a Canadian man accused of leading a multi-billion-dollar drug syndicate, was sentenced to 16 years in prison in Australia after three years of closed court hearings. Known as “Asia’s El Chapo,” he was arrested in Amsterdam in 2021 and extradited to Australia in December 2022, where he pleaded guilty to drug trafficking charges. The judge described his operations as “pure evil,” and Tse will be eligible for parole after serving 10 years before being deported back to Canada.
