On the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, Gaza’s Health Ministry reported that 6,000 amputees urgently require long-term rehabilitation due to the ongoing Israeli conflict, with 25% of cases involving children. The ministry highlighted the severe humanitarian crisis facing these individuals and called for international support to ensure access to necessary care and rehabilitation programs. Since October 2023, over 70,000 people have died, predominantly women and children, with more than 171,000 injured. The situation in Gaza has led to the highest number of child amputees per capita worldwide, emphasizing the dire need for assistance.
