Asia Floods Leave 1,250 Dead: Causes Identified
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Recent tropical storms and heavy rainfall have led to catastrophic flooding and landslides in South and Southeast Asia, resulting in over 1,250 deaths and many missing, particularly in Indonesia, Sri Lanka, and Thailand. Sri Lanka has declared a state of emergency, with more than 1.1 million people displaced as recovery efforts begin. Experts attribute the unprecedented rainfall to climate change and the La Niña phenomenon, which increases moisture in the atmosphere. Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto emphasized the need for regional preparedness to combat climate change impacts.
