Adolf Hitler Uunona, a 59-year-old politician from northern Namibia, recently won re-election in a landslide, despite sharing a name with the infamous Nazi leader. Uunona, who has served as a member of the South West Africa People’s Organisation (SWAPO) since 2004, focuses on anti-apartheid efforts in his community. He expresses a desire to be known by his other surname, Uunona, stating he was unaware of his name’s origins until later in life. Germanic names are common in Namibia due to its colonial past, but Uunona emphasizes that he is not associated with the ideologies of his namesake.
