Auckland Council supports additional concerts at Eden Park

Auckland Council has approved, “in principle,” a plan to increase the number of concerts at Eden Park from 12 to 32 annually, and to lift the current ban on Sunday concerts. The proposal, put forth by Minister of Resource Management Reform Chris Bishop, also suggests extending concert hours and relaxing other conditions. During a lengthy meeting, the council voted 20 in favor, with only Mike Lee opposing the decision. The council will also seek government input on various implementation issues.
