Canada Provides Support for Lumber and Steel Industries Affected by Tariffs
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Amid stalled trade talks with the U.S., Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney announced a new support plan for the steel and lumber industries, aimed at countering U.S. tariffs. The measures include reducing import quotas for non-free trade agreement countries and imposing a 25% global tariff on certain steel products. Ottawa will also cut freight rates for inter-provincial transport of these materials and bolster financial aid for affected companies. Carney expressed readiness to re-engage in trade discussions with the U.S., following tensions over tariffs.
