Colombian Court Sentences Alvaro Uribe’s Brother to 28 Years
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Bogota, Colombia – Santiago Uribe, brother of former Colombian President Alvaro Uribe, has been sentenced to 28 years and three months in prison for aggravated homicide and conspiracy linked to leading a paramilitary group in the 1990s. A court found that Uribe formed the group known as The 12 Apostles, which executed systematic murders of individuals deemed undesirable. Despite his denial of paramilitary ties, Uribe’s conviction marks a significant development in ongoing investigations into the Uribe family’s alleged criminal activities. The ruling, which overturns a previous acquittal, is set to be reviewed by Colombia’s Supreme Court.
