Players from the Coastal Bend excelled in football playoffs, leading to several finalists for the Apple Dental Center Caller-Times High School Athlete of the Week. Gregory-Portland’s Cody Adame scored four touchdowns, while Calallen’s Drayson Gamez set a school record with two interception returns for touchdowns. Other notable performances included Leah Gutierrez in basketball and impressive contributions from football players Wyatt Kalhoefer, Zander Wills, and Marcos Zapata Jr. Nominations for the award are open until Saturday at 5 p.m.
