Australia’s labour market is increasingly excluding vulnerable jobseekers, as entry-level positions vanish at the fastest rate in a decade, according to Anglicare Australia’s Jobs Availability Snapshot 2025. The report reveals 39 individuals on JobSeeker competing for each entry-level job, 25 of whom face significant barriers, marking the highest ratio recorded. Anglicare executive director Kasy Chambers criticizes the current employment services model as failing those it aims to help, calling for an overhaul and increased support for jobseekers. She argues that genuine opportunities and adequate financial assistance are essential for these individuals to succeed.
