Christopher Best, a 34-year-old worker at a radar site in Nunavut, was killed by a polar bear on August 8, 2024, despite having been warned about bear activity. Surveillance footage revealed he was unaware of a second bear that charged him while he attempted to retreat. His mother, Shelly Cox, called for enhanced safety measures, such as fencing and alarms, to prevent similar incidents. A report by Nasittuq Corporation highlights the need for improved protocols for worker safety at remote sites.
