Port Stanley, Ont., is adorned with approximately 15,555 knitted and crocheted poppies as part of the Poppy Campaign initiated by resident Kathy Howarth. Inspired by a similar project in Stratford, Ontario, Howarth and 106 volunteers worked tirelessly since January to create the poppies, which now embellish various locations throughout the town. The community’s enthusiastic response has even turned finding the poppies into a fun challenge. Looking ahead, Howarth is already planning future initiatives to continue this vibrant display of remembrance.
