Dougal Gunn Sharp, founder of Innis & Gunn brewery, plans to open a 150-year-old bottle of Allsopp’s Arctic Ale, originally brewed for explorers, to create a modern version called Innis & Gunn 1875 Arctic Ale. Acquired at auction for over £3,000, the ale boasts a 9% alcohol content and is known for its thick consistency. Sharp believes that sharing this historic beer on its anniversary is essential, collaborating with the resurrected Allsopp’s brewery. The new ale will be available later this year at select venues in Edinburgh, Glasgow, and London.
