Linux Gamers on Steam Exceed 3% Share

Linux gamers on Steam have surpassed the 3% mark for the first time, reaching 3.05% in the October 2025 Steam Hardware & Software Survey, largely attributed to the decline in Windows 10 support and the success of Valve’s Steam Deck. This increase represents over 4 million monthly active users, marking a significant growth from 2.00% in October 2024. SteamOS accounts for about 27% of Linux installations, emphasizing its role in this trend. Meanwhile, Windows remains dominant at 94.84%, with macOS at 2.11%.
