USS Gravely’s arrival comes as US military build-up in the region has increased tensions between Washington and Caracas.
The USS Gravely, a US guided-missile destroyer, has docked in Trinidad and Tobago amid rising tensions with Venezuela, coinciding with increased US military presence in the Caribbean, including plans for joint exercises. Venezuelan President Maduro accused the US of fabricating a war, while local Trinidadians expressed concern over potential regional conflict.
