Local Kimberley councils have welcomed new and returning members following recent elections, with Broome seeing a low turnout of 11.28% as Desiree Male was re-elected alongside Sean Cooper, Philip Matsumoto, and Peter Taylor. In the Shire of Derby-West Kimberley, Peter McCumstie resumed as shire president after a 22.17% turnout, with a newly elected council formed from a pool of 20 candidates.
