Thirty-two African nations now spend more servicing external debt than funding healthcare
Over 30 economists, including Nobel laureate Joseph Stiglitz, have urged for immediate debt relief for low- and middle-income countries, highlighting that 32 African nations allocate more funds to debt servicing than healthcare. They argue that capping debt servicing to 10% of state revenue could significantly improve access to essential services and address public sector funding crises exacerbated by reduced aid.
