Police are investigating an incident at Shakespear Regional Park, Auckland, where a mother and her children reportedly witnessed a park ranger violently striking pūkeko with a hammer, allegedly causing injury and suffering to the birds. A complaint has been lodged with Auckland Council regarding the ranger’s actions, which were described as “inhumane.”
