During a police negotiation on Monday, 10-year-old Maverick Phillips was reported to be armed with a rifle at a makeshift campsite in Waitomo, New Zealand, where he and his siblings had been living. The children are now in the care of Oranga Tamariki, with authorities believing they had relocated to this site only months ago, not long after vanishing in September 2021.
