A 32-year-old Mexican man, Lorenzo Antonio Batrez Vargas, died in ICE custody at Mountain Vista Medical Center in Arizona on August 31, following his detention at the Central Arizona Correctional Complex. Vargas had been previously arrested for drug paraphernalia and DUI, and his death, which is under investigation, marks the 14th death in U.S. immigration detention centers this year.
