FAST to retain power after Samoan election victory confirmed | Elections News

The FAST party retains power in Samoa, with Laaulialemalietoa Leuatea Schmidt succeeding Fiame Naomi Mata’afa as Prime Minister following her departure from the party.

FAST won 30 of 50 seats in the recent election, while the Human Rights Protection Party secured 14 seats and independent candidates won four; a new seat will be created to meet the minimum representation rule for women in parliament, where only five currently serve.
