Immigration Minister Andrew Giles will investigate his department’s failure to brief him on a directive allowing convicted criminals to stay in the country.
Defending his job amid calls for his removal, Mr Giles was unaware of the visas reinstated for criminals by the Administrative Appeals Tribunal under direction 99.
