Former NRLW, Kiwi Ferns star Kath Wharton died while taking nap in vehicle in Auckland McDonald’s carpark

A former NRLW Warriors player, Kath Wharton (nee Keremete), was found unresponsive in her vehicle after taking a nap in an Auckland McDonald’s carpark following a long-haul flight from Japan. The coroner confirmed her death on November 21 was due to sudden cardiac arrest, and she had contracted Covid-19 at the time, though it was not a significant factor in her death.
