UN chief urges immediate Gaza ceasefire, warns of casualties from Israeli operation

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres urged an immediate ceasefire in Gaza amid Israel’s operation to take over Gaza City, warning of inevitable death and destruction. He also called for the unconditional release of Hamas hostages and condemned Israel’s expansion of “illegal” settlements in the West Bank, which threatens the viability of a two-state solution.
