Mining, Belt and Road participation feature in trilateral meetings between China, Afghanistan and Pakistan in Kabul.
During his visit to Kabul, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi discussed Afghanistan’s potential participation in the Belt and Road Initiative and plans for mining activities, emphasizing deepening political trust and cooperation in trade and agriculture. Both China and Pakistan, while not formally recognizing Afghanistan’s interim administration, are keen on strengthening ties with the Taliban-led government, which could provide access to valuable mineral resources.
