Sudan army torturing people to death, says rights group

A Sudanese human rights group, Emergency Lawyers, has accused the army and security forces of torturing detainees to death and operating “execution chambers,” documenting hundreds of arrests in Khartoum amid a civil war that has caused tens of thousands of deaths. The group highlighted a dangerous rise in violations, including arbitrary detentions and inhumane conditions, as the conflict escalates, contributing to a severe humanitarian crisis affecting 12 million people and resulting in a cholera outbreak.
