Coventry Building Society confirms purchase of Co-op Bank in mega-deal

Coventry Building Society completed a £780 million acquisition of the Co-operative Bank, creating a new banking giant.

The Co-op Bank will transition back to a mutual structure, owned by individual members, not shareholders.

The merger will take several years, with plans to eventually transition Co-op Bank customers to Coventry society members.
