Perth and much of Western Australia experienced record-breaking wind gusts overnight, with Jandakot recording a peak of 117km/h, the strongest since 1990, causing significant damage including uprooted trees and scattered debris. The Bureau of Meteorology reported that nearly 6000 homes lost power, but winds are expected to ease, and residents have been advised to check for damage and stay safe.
