Typhoon Podul Approaches Taiwan
As Typhoon Podul nears southern Taiwan, thousands have evacuated, schools are closed, and over 380 flights have been cancelled due to wind gusts reaching 191kph (118 mph). Forecasts predict heavy rain, with up to 600mm expected in mountainous areas, as the typhoon is set to make landfall near Taitung before moving towards China’s Fujian province.
